The iPhone 17 Air features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of around 2736 × 1260 pixels and a pixel density of about 460 ppi. It supports ProMotion technology with a 120 Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth animations and responsive scrolling. The panel is HDR-ready with high brightness levels and also supports an Always-On display, allowing time and notifications to be visible even when the phone is idle.

Camera

On the rear, the iPhone 17 Air comes with a 48 MP wide (main) camera with an f/1.6 aperture, designed to capture detailed images with excellent low-light performance. Unlike the Pro models, it has a single-lens setup but uses Apple’s advanced “Fusion” imaging technology to enhance image quality. The 18 MP front camera supports advanced portrait effects, high-resolution selfies, and video calls with features like Center Stage, which keeps you in frame during video chats.

Performance

At its core, the iPhone 17 Air is powered by the Apple A19 Pro chip, which includes a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine for advanced AI tasks and image processing. It is paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring strong multitasking capabilities, smooth gaming performance, and reliable speed for demanding apps.

Operating System

The device ships with iOS 26, Apple’s latest operating system. It brings enhanced multitasking, improved AI integration, stronger privacy and security features, and deeper hardware-software optimization. Regular iOS updates ensure the device stays secure and gains new features over time.

Connectivity

The iPhone 17 Air is an eSIM-only device (no physical SIM slot). It supports 5G (sub-6 GHz) along with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and satellite connectivity for emergencies. Apple’s new “N1” networking chip also supports Thread for smart home integration. Charging and data transfer are handled through a USB-C port, although transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0.

Storage

Available storage options include 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB variants. The storage is NVMe-based, ensuring extremely fast read and write speeds. As with other iPhones, there is no microSD expansion, so storage is fixed based on the model purchased.

Sound & Speaker

Unlike the Pro models, the iPhone 17 Air includes a mono speaker rather than a stereo setup. While the audio is clear and of high Apple quality, it does not provide the wider soundstage or immersive stereo experience found in higher-end iPhones.
