Display

The Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels, giving it a sharp pixel density. The screen supports HDR content, and displays vivid colors and deep blacks. It uses Smooth Display technology, which allows adaptive refresh between 60 Hz and 120 Hz, making animations and scrolling smoother when needed while conserving battery when static. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and includes a circular cut-out (hole punch) at the top center for the front camera.

Camera

On the rear is a dual-camera setup. The primary (wide) sensor is 12.2 MP with an f/1.7 aperture, dual pixel autofocus, and optical image stabilization (OIS). The second lens is a 12 MP ultra-wide (about 114° field of view) with f/2.2 aperture. The rear setup supports advanced computational photography: Night Sight, portrait mode, magic eraser, etc. For video, it can record 4K up to 60 fps and 1080p at higher frame rates. The front (selfie) camera is 8 MP with f/2.0 aperture, suitable for video calls and decent self-portraits.

Performance

The Pixel 6a is powered by Google’s Tensor chipset, which is the same line used in the higher Pixel models. It pairs with 6 GB of RAM and uses UFS 3.1 internal storage. This setup delivers capable performance for everyday tasks, multitasking, and the camera’s computational demands. The Tensor chip is designed for AI and on-device processing, helping with photography, voice, translation, and smart features.

Operating System

It launched with Android 12, enriched by Google’s Pixel features and promise of updates. Over time, it supports upgrades to later Android versions and security patches. The software experience emphasizes clean UI, timely updates, and exclusive Pixel features (camera enhancements, AI assistance, etc.). The phone also includes the Titan M2 security chip for hardware-level security.

Connectivity

For wireless connectivity, the Pixel 6a supports 5G, LTE, and older cellular standards. It includes Wi-Fi 6 for fast local networking, Bluetooth 5.2 for accessory pairing, and NFC for contactless payments. Location services include GPS and support for global navigation satellite systems. The phone uses a USB-C port for charging and wired data. It also has dual SIM (nano SIM + eSIM) support in many markets. The device has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance (usable up to 1 meter underwater for 30 minutes).

Sound & Speaker

Audio is delivered via stereo speakers—one at the bottom edge and one acting as the earpiece. This gives balanced audio when watching videos or gaming in either orientation. It includes multiple microphones with noise suppression to improve clarity during calls, recordings, and voice input. Although there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, audio can be routed over USB-C or via Bluetooth to headphones or external speakers.

Storage

The Pixel 6a comes with 128 GB of internal storage. The storage is not expandable — there is no microSD slot. A portion of the storage is used by the operating system and preinstalled applications, so the usable space will be somewhat less than the nominal capacity.
